Another useful survey conducted by Katy Gilpatric from Kaplan University which analyses woman in films. This is a very interesting survey which looked at 112 films and found out 58% of "violent" woman in the films were still in a submissive role to men. It also found that 48% of woman were romantically involved with the main males.

A useful survey

The link above leads to a website, which I believe will be very useful. It is a Survey produced by Alkanas State university about how woman are represented in films and what the viewer thinks of them. I think this will be very beneficial to since this is very similar to what i am doing.

Post Modernism

Now that i have my question, i must now consider media theories to see if they are relevant to my question.

A major theory that I should consider is Post Modernism. I should consider whether they are a hybrid, parody and also Intertextuality.
Since these films fit into the action genre, it is unlikely that they will be a parody. So i must consider whether the characters or film are a product of intertextuality or a hybrid.

NEW Media Coursework Question

How stereotypical are the representations of woman in the Action Genre, with reference to Lara Croft And Tomorrow Never Dies?

I believe this question will allow me to compare a variety of woman from  Lara Croft who is a strong and ferocious woman to some of  the woman in James Bond who are itemised and objectified by the main characters.Using a James Bond film will allow me to explore two female characters, one which is strong and dominant and one which is closer to the stereotype, and apply the binary opposition theory.

It will also allow me to examine the main heroine of James Bond to see if they are completely dominant on the Hero (Bond) or if they are more independent.

I will also research surveys about stereotypical woman to discover what is a "stereotypical" woman and then compare this to the characters in the films.
